Start-ups rock: Concept to beta launch in 9 weeks!
Just before Christmas I had what I thought was a good idea for a new start-up. After scribbling just a few notes I forgot about the idea in favour of mince pies and port….well as much as you can ever forget about an exciting new idea that is.
Then on New Years Eve I decided to send my work colleague and friend Craig Pickles (sobazzar co-founder) a quick email to see what he thought of the idea.
What happened next was an email conversation that went something like this:
Rob: Hi Craig, what do you think about this idea…..?
Craig: looks good, I think it has legs.
Rob: You in?
Craig: Yes.
This conversation echo’s the way we have worked ever since; efficiently and without doing anything we don’t need to do. A lean start-up approach I think its called ;-)
So we met for a coffee at the end of January to think about how we could make something happen.
Fast forward 9 weeks and we just launched our MVP (Minimal Viable Product).
Ok so its more like 3 months since that seed of an idea popped into my head but in terms of building this first version we have done it in 9 weeks and this is why building a web start-up is probably the lowest risk business you can start. £23 and a few coffees and we are ready to go!
More about how we did it and the decisions we made along the way in a later post.
Have fun and let us know what you think about sobazzar.
